| Darwen's residents are proud of their town and I am pleased to have
been given the opportunity to represent them. I would like to thank not
only those who voted for me and the other For Darwen elected councillors
but every citizen in the town that have come forward and supported us.
This is an important time for Darwen with the Borough and Town council
elections being held at the same time. This is why your vote is
important, you have two votes for the town council and one vote for the
Borough council.
Once again we have the Labour party claiming the achievements of the
last coalition council.
What have they done for Darwen? Absolutely Nothing!! Potholes are
getting worse even though they are repaired in Blackburn, even though
the government gave them one million pounds. What do they plan to do in
Darwen? Absolutely nothing as is shown in the Executive Board's minutes.
They are cutting staff and services because they say it is due to
government cuts but can find nearly seven million pounds for road
schemes in Blackburn. The bus lane was their idea but was cancelled by
the last council, they want to reinstate it at a cost of millions which
the Borough cannot afford.
We challenge all existing or future councillors to forgo their perks
and expenses saving the taxpayers thousands of pounds. The For Darwen
candidates pledge this if elected.
All the Labour candidates care about is what they can get out of the
council not what they can do for the community. By having paid positions
on committees above what they receive as councillors. This is why they
opposed elected Police Commissioners because they get paid to be on the
Police Authority.
Will all councillors pledge to keep Darwen Town Council unpaid? For
Darwen will.
A Labour candidate in Earcroft thinks it was funny to be arrested for
being drunk and disorderly before the match in Wolverhampton. So drunk
she fell off the coach. She says it was "Out of character!" What a joke,
being well known in Earcroft, if she had any decency, she should have
stood down.
These are just some of the reasons NOT to vote for the Labour party.
THE FOR DARWEN PARTY WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT FOR THE RIGHTS OF DARWEN
TO THE BEST OF ITS ABILITY
Our priority is for Darwen to be treated fairly.
Cllr. Stephen Potter, Leader of the For Darwen Party. |
